I'm looking to set up a couple of old desktop computers as linux servers, and was wondering if anyone had recommendations as to which distribution to use. Server 1 will mostly just host some images for reimaging other machines and could potentially just be a desktop distro, server 2 would be the base for 5 terminals to do some very basic library services (book lookup stations). The computers have (roughly) 1.x GH processors, 128 or 256 megs of ram, and 40 gig hard drives.

Stick a knoppix cd in the drive and superglue it shut; that'll make it harder for the kids to screw things up :-)

I use Fedora Core. This is what used to be called Red Hat Linux. It's probably the most popular distribution in the U.S. I have two MythTV boxes running the latest Fedora Core 6, and a generic server (email, ssh, dvarchive, DealBot) running Fedora Core 4.

Yeah, Fedora is good and easy. A lot of people like Ubuntu as well.
