Hello All !
This thread is for discussing various methods on configuring the PAP2 (V1 and V2) remotely of VOIP providers who support BYOD functionality.
1. Option A.
I would like to do what Vonage does....that is, once the adapter is hooked to the internet, it seeks out defined set of servers, talks to them and get configuration from it and whola'a, they have either stanaphone or Voipcheap etc is configured to specific ports. Sort of like pit stop, where the PAP2 adapters get serviced based on a menu basis.
2. Option B
I get remote configuration capability for the adapters. Basically same as Option A, except the adapter is hooked to internet but the owner is not literate enough PC stuff and I have to go and take over the adapter, remotely and get it configured correctly.
For Option B, assume the following:
1. Computer / networking literacy very limited.
2. Follow technical direction....very limited to blank stares
End Goal: Make everyone who wants to use VOIP technology, can do so without being locked to one VOIP provider...Like it is today....local, longdistance, calling card, cell phone etc.
Please provide detail steps et. I will be taking the proven information and think on how ot bring it to the comoners.
Thank you all
