I have had a HP officejet d135 for a few years now. This is the 3rd one since the other two had problems and I had to send back to HP bang.gif .

However, the print heads are constantly drying out. I really don't want to pay $120 + to replace all the print heads, even though the printer has been ok.

There are a few features I love about my current printer:

Legal size flatbed
Automatic Document Feeder
Can copy without pc

I don't care so much about the fax, as I don't use it that often. I would like to replace the whole printer, but I really wish I could find one with a legal size flatbed. However, I would be willing to give up that feature for a reliable printer.

Can anyone share their experiences with some AIO printers? Are there ones that you absolutely hated? Why?

Lastly, if it wasn't for the print head issues, I would probably be keeping my current AIO. I know some manufacturers actually have the print heads int he cartridge so that each time you replace the ink, it prints as if it were new. If I could find one like that, it would be great.

I have done some looking around, but wanted to get people's opinions on ones that they may be personally using.

Thanks in advance!
Alan
My opinion - go for a laser. I don't have a model number to recommend, I just feel that the quality is better and in the long run is actually less expensive to operate than those that use ink cartridges.

I suppose you can with a color laser, but those tend to be pricey. And very large. And very heavy.

I would also recommend getting a laser. I have a Sharp AL-1641CS laser copier/printer, and it's been great. It has a legal-size flatbed, a sheet-feeder, and does standalone copying. I think this particular model was being clearanced at several places when I bought it, but Sharp has several other, similar models.

For photo printing, we just order prints online. I used to have a Canon photo printer, but it was just too much of a hassle and too expensive compared to ordering prints. If we don't care too much about print quality, and we need a photo printed quickly, then we just print it out on a cheap Dell 720 color inkjet that we still have.
