works fine. It seems to be a bit faster. Right now some extensions and themes don't work for FF 2, but that will be fixed when its updated.

One of the more recent firefox updates caused my internet access to get all quirky. I've been a little wary since then.

I upgraded to firefox 2.0 just now. It was actually pretty smooth. I haven't really noticed much difference yet.
garsh
I've noticed spell checking within the text editor! It puts a thin, dotted red line under any words it doesn't recognize.

Yep, I've got FF 2 RC 2 installed at work and love the spell checker smile.gif

I can't decide which way I like the tabs though - with one close button on the far right (ie FF 1) or close buttons on each tab (ie FF 2). Since I've got 1 at home and 2 at work, I've been known to try to click the wrong place wink.gif

I'm trying to see if I can get used to having it on each tab, but it's annoying me so far.
Luckily, you can change the behavior in about:config

browser.tabs.closeButtons 0 = close button on active tab
browser.tabs.closeButtons 1 = default, close button on all tabs
browser.tabs.closeButtons 2 = no close buttons
browser.tabs.closeButtons 3 = Fx 1.x style, one close button on right

update: right after posting this, I accidentally deleted a tab while trying to switch to it. So I quickly changed the value to 3. tongue.gif

update #2: just learned something useful. If you accidentally close a tab, CTRL-Shift-t will bring it back. smile.gif

Supposedly, this extension can be used to fix many of these other extensions, where the only "problem" is that the extension says it only works with 1.5, and otherwise it works just fine with 2.0. I haven't tried it though.

I close tabs by clicking the mouse-wheel anyway, so this isn't a problem for me smile.gif

(well, except when I am on my laptop without a mouse...then I have to hit both pointer buttons simultaneously, which is hard for me...damn lack of dexterity tongue.gif)

Has anyone figured out how to shorten the tabs so more fit on a page?

I'm used to keeping more tabs open & they won't all fit now.

I'm not sure what you mean. As you keep opening more tabs, the tabs just keep getting shorter & shorter, right?

edit: Oops! I see now. It starts scrolling the tabs off to the left. Not sure if I like that.

Holy smokes! The fix spelling thing is awesome.

This means a brighter future for Americans! Haha.

Just installed and like it so far.

I like it except for the non-shrinking tabs...still looking for a fix

You want the tabs to shrink when it starts to fill up the entire row?

about:config

browser.tabs.tabMinWidth

default is 100. change it to something smaller (75?). You fit more tabs before you see the tab scroll.

If you don't want any tab scroll, set value to 0

Thanks smile.gif

I had already tried that. It didn't seem to make a difference.

It seems to work for me. Try it with a value of 50.

This is the max tabs I can open @ 100 without tab scroll

Using the previous version 1.x, clicking a link would open a new window. However, ver. 2.0 now put up a tab and my old habit of clicking the upper top right X box would have me almost closing all open windows. I did find out how to get back to the old way.

Click on Tools
Click on Options
Click on Tabs
Change radio button to a new window for the top question.
Click the OK button

I did get a message upon Firefox 2.0 installing itself that there was a compatablity with Google Web Accelerator.
crimson
When I set it to 50, I can get about 24 tabs in before the spillover scroll button shows up [on a 19" monitor].

Thanks, dasnufus mango.gif

It's working now. Perhaps it required a restart before it took effect?

having the close buttons on each tab is too confusing for me since I'm used to it the old way. I found myself trying to close the current tab by clicking the far right close button and then I end up closing the far right tab. I even did it a couple of times and didn't realize it, then wondered where the heck that other tab went.

read garsh's post #8.

You can change the way tabs close

I've found that most changes to ff require a restart of the browser to take effect.

Don't ask how much time I wasted figuring it out blushing.gif

Cool!

I just realized that you can drag & drop the tabs to reorder them now!
I have often wished to be able to do that.

Yeah, me too, since I have FF2 at home and the older version at work.

I like it so far; I actually have a short review of it up on my website.

I finally upgraded to FF2 today. blushing.gif Since I was using Vista beta/RC1/RC2 for the past few months, I knew I'd eventually be switching back to XP so I didn't bother upgrading my browser from 1.5.0.9.

I'm back on XP now and just installed FF2. Since I waited a while to download this, some of my extensions also had updates available that were FF2 compatible. smile.gif The tab problems that people mentioned above were very easy for me to go through and change since the Tabbrowser Preferences extension has all of those options available without needing to go through about:config.

I haven't had much time with it yet, but I like it so far.

What option do I change to stop this behavior...

I type in an address and the page takes forever to load (or never loads), so I want to go to a different address instead. When I type in a different address, as soon as I hit enter a new tab opens up to load that address.

What I want it to do is open the new address in the current tab (of the slow loading page), not open in a new tab.

What option is that??

Tools -> Options... -> Tabbed Browsing -> User Interface -> Load the following in new tabs.

Uncheck those boxes.
