I need Michelin tires for my SUV... I was quoted $979.37 for all 4 -installed and aligned, but it seems pricey to me... any ideas where to get a better deal?

Many people like tirerack.com, but you will have to have them installed somewhere.

And yeah, that seems high to me too.

We generally buy tires & and get them installed at farm & home stores like Theissen's or Farm & Fleet...but then we don't need high end stuff like Michelin...not out on the gravels... smile.gif

i've never had mine done, but i've heard good prices at costco and people like discount tires.

Following up what kar mentioned, my coupon inserts had an ad from the local Chrysler dealers pushing tires. There something about a $50 rebate when 4 Michelin passenger or light truck tires are purchased.

Sears also have a sale on Michelin, with a note that these are lowest prices of the season.

Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus H/V P195/60HR15 $110 (save $26-$72 0n 4)
Michelim HX MXM4 P235/55HR17 $180 (save $33-$92 0n 4)

IMHO, those big SUV are parts and labor hogs. Any service or repair will be budget breaker.

What size and style of tire do you need, and where does the Michelin requirement come from? $979 is way more expensive than quotes I was just getting for new tires on my truck, but depending on your true reuirements (P vs LT tires, size, type - i.e. street vs all terrain, etc) there is a lot of variation. If you have a local Sears auto center, they will typically price match tires from the bigger online dealers (TireRack, etc).

Also Sam's Club, BJ's, or any other of those types of clubs.

Tire Deal Thread - it's a bit old (sorry!), but lots of good information from people.

And I have ordered several sets of tires from tirerack and have had them installed at a local place for $15@. I've also ordered three sets of tires + rims (snow tires) from tirerack. One thing that I can say is that they (tirerack) offer very good service if you encounter a problem (in my case, they didn't send enough lugs and overnighted me more than enough extra to compensate for it).
