My parents are currently using a 19" LCD and they have pretty bad eyesight so I've increased their Font display to like 150% or 200%. This makes webpage text larger but it also screws the page formatting pretty bad.

I was wondering if I bought them a 24" Dell LCD or something even larger like a 32" LCD, would that fix the webpage formatting and allow them to keep the increased Font size? Basically would it produce a jumbo sized webpage with the increased Font but also keep the correct format?

TIA.

Is your monitor resolution limited? It sounds like you just need to decrease the resolution instead of changing the font size....

32" LCD would be a LCD TV with smaller resolution. Only 24" and 30" LCD have large resolution. Did you increase the font size or the DPI setting? Changing DPI should not screw up formatting I think.

I can't remember if I increased DPI but for sure I increased the Font size.

This is a Win 2000 machine, so I can't remember if there's a DPI option but I know for sure the webpage formats are distorted.

The resolution was decreased to 1024 x 768 (instead of the highest 1280 x something).

I think I might just get them the 24" Dell and if they don't like it, I'll keep it for myself. eyehide.gif

dpi setting is what you want to change.

in control panel > display > settings tab > advanced button > general tab > dpi setting

change that from 96dpi to 120dpi.

if you're using an LCD, NEVER change it from the native resolution. things just get bad from that point and by bad, I mean blurry.
