Have a yard or garage sale...if you don't want to do that, take some items to a consignment store...recycle aluminum/copper...put up signs to do child/elder care, pet or plant-sitting, lawn care, housework...noexpression.gif

Scrap prices are way up right now. I just brought in a load of cans, scrap aluminum, copper and brass. The cans alone got me almost $200 where the same amount (little over 200 lbs which is the tier for the next highest per pound payout amount) normally gets me only $70.

Walk the ditches, empty lots, and alleys... Look @ garage sales... Check the yellow pages or the 'net for metal scrap dealers. Part of DH's job is to pick trash (but not trashy women) off our city's streets...He makes a couple of hundred a year from cans alone. Even in our house we make sure to save any metal that can be salvaged...smile.gif

if you have a car, although gas prices is kind of expensive. i was thinking about putting up the new house sale signs for the new home builders.

another suggestion if you don't mind picking up poop.. it seems like a booming business. poop picker upper. i am serious. i read an article and those people say they can make up to $50,000 a year. you can use 'utensils' to pick them up and they charge EXTRA to throw it out. so you just pick it up, bag it and leave it on their front porch?

Wow is right! I grew up as the designated clean-up boy for my parents Irish Wolfhounds. After that cleaning up after someones little pet dogs would be nothing.(except for it being dogcrap)
I just might be willing to take a pay cut just to work outdoors in the fresh air!! sick.gif

Another prime location is any park or forest preserve on a weekend. You'll find the waste barrels full of cans. Also keep an eye out for qany other aluminum scrap (siding, lawn chairs, etc) as scrap is getting upwards of $0.55/lb.

I let the kids pick up and crush cans and they each get to keep what ever they accumulate when I take it to the scrap yard.

good ideas, except in Michigan...our cans are worth 10 cents each, so parks and ditches are empty of cans and bottles

Although I could get around two cents per can, I rather dump my week worth in the recycle dumpster at a local school. Also, throw my newspaper into a nearby dumpster and hopefully grab some coupon inserts. Anyway, the primary reason I have any cans, was that last Holiday Pepsi and Coke sold it cheap in store. Usually, I grab the two liters bottles and one got to pay to recycle plastic around here. sad.gif

While the OP has gotten good advice from some members, I question that person motives. Was it a hard luck story to con some folks out of money? My apologies to come off as negative, just too ???

We have people here that work the parking lots of Home Depot, looking for people that have large bulky items to load. You ask if they need help and tell them you simply work for tips. Should be able to clear $150 a day.

Dress nice!

Don't throw away your tin cans either (dog food, fruit and veg. one) our recycle center takes them and pays not much but still if you are going just as well take everything. You have to remove the labels.
