Thought I'd throw this out here since there are so many Dell deals that get posted. I was going to buy two 2700fp's to replace the 2405fpw that I'm currently using, but I came across a lot of talk about the 2007 line monitors having a lot of problems...

There's a huge thread on the Dell support forums about it.

Anyone here have a 2007*? Are you happy with it?

Every Dell 2007FP and every Dell 2007FPW tested through the DVI port has quite bad color banding.I have read reports of people trying different cables, computers, returning up to 3 times. All to no avail. They are all broken.

It is so prevalent and so obvious that Dell must know of this issue. They had just hoped that most people wouldn't notice. Dell doesn't make quality decisions, they make monetary ones. It is probably cheaper to deal with 10%; returns than fix the problem. So they will deal with the returns. If returns hit 50%; and the sales drop off, then they might fix it.

...and a fuzzy text bug too:

Some more info... Apparently a Dell tech forum mod admitted to them having the issue in a post, but then later deleted the response and asked everyone to wait until he heard back officially by the 5/26.

...also:

From what I have read, Dell really messed up. The 2007FP, 2007WFP both have substandard DVI inputs and other issues. Early reports out of Japan on the 2407 indicate it is not as good as the 2405.

Essentially it looks like Dell tried to improve the profit margin by loading up the new series with cost reduced, cheaper components and it looks like they are substandard components at that.
