I installed Triton on a machine because I wanted to be able to have that person do a video chat with ichat. It was the most horrible piece of bloatware/adware i've ever voluntarily or unvoluntarily installed. Just looking at it and all the popups and little windows it installed made me sick. And it installs 3 firewall exceptions for itself without asking. Unbelievable. And then I learned you need AIM 5.9 because Triton doesn't work with ichat for video chats! So I uninstalled and I felt clean again!
But then I installed AIM 5.9, and now I feel mildly dirty. It's not as bad as Triton, but close. Triton is like they took AIM and said "this is horrible malware, but what could we do to make it WORSE!".
The AIM hack tool does remove a lot of that junk from Triton. But I agree - Trillian (with all its quirks) is much better for day-to-day use.
