I am building two brand new computers and have had trouble in the past purchasing crappy cases that are flimsy and just falls apart. I have had good experiences with Antec and might just stick with their line of products. But can anyone recommend me a sturdy quiet case. I am also looking for those powerful but quiet fans. I bought 10 of those newegg fans but they are SOO LOUD and keep me up during the night. I know those fans cost 5-10 a peice but they are quiet enough so i can sleep its well worth it.

I havent seen many good deals on computer cases.. hope someone can pull one out.

Also i am looking for a good Motherboard / CPU combo. I have been looking for several months but havent come across many. I know there were the AMD operton chips on sale but im not much of an AMD guy so i like to stick with my P4 chips. Currently there is the P4 640 3.2 /w ECS mobo for 219.99 at outpost. The chip alone goes for about 215 at ZZF and newegg so would this be a exceptional deal or should i wait for better deals?

I currently have the P4 2.53 chip. Would i be able to tell the difference between my current chip and the P4 640 chip?

Thanks for all the help!

First off, you need to go to Silent PC Review and read up!

The Antec P180 has been lauded as one of the quietest cases built. I would look in that direction if the cost is within budget. If you want to go that route, you need to read up on how to install in that case since it's not straight forward.

The P160 is not a bad choice since it includes the powersupply.

As for fans, if you are talking about 120mm, Nexus has been a great choice in the past. SPCR has fan reviews as well.

One other thing I should mention is that if you are really looking for quiet, you should look at AMD. They are much cooler, especially if you are still looking at the P4 line. A cooler chip means that it is easier to cool, which means that it will be quieter.

Besides, an AMD X2 64 is better than that 640.

DH has Antec Sonata ($34 clearance at Staples a while back)...he LOVES it.

he has this HUGE Zantec heat sink (sp?).

I have an Antec SLK2650-BQE for my HTPC. Very quiet. Match it with a low noise level heatsink/fan combo and I believe you'll be happy.

Lian Li's are another good choice for case manufacturer. Also, if you want a quiet case, find one that uses 120mm fans instead of 80mm.
