Yeah, kinda like how PC133 is faster than PC100, for instance.

Is it noticeably faster? That I'm not sure of.

DDR2 400 = PC2-3200
DDR2 533 = PC2-4200 <-- most deals you'll find are for this type of DDR2
DDR2 667 = PC2-5300

Which processor are you putting in the system?

I would stick with the DDR2 533 (PC2 4200). I'm not even sure if you mobo can even take advantage of DDR2 667.

Plus there's deals for ddr2 533. I haven't seen any deals for 667

So if you go into a computer store ask for the:

PC2 4200 DDR2

I think your mobo is dual channel. So to get the best performance. Buy two sticks of 512mb PC2 4200. You will have four memory banks. Put 1 stick in the 1st bank.. then the other stick into the 3rd bank.

thanks for all your help you have made this so much easier..

i have no prob putting the parts together i just dont want to go to
fry's and get sold stuff i dont need or crap..

chip is the 2.8 dual core one.

think it would be cheaper to buy the system from dell..
i got the mobo/chip and xp pro from that intel bundle.

http://www.crucial.com/ is my favorite place to learn everything (or most) about memory.
