I wasnt sure if it belongs here or off topic but since it was computer related my final decision ended up here

.
I have created a powerpoint presentation and wanted to send it out to friends/family/business parters etc... I was wondering if there is a way to send a copy of the powerpoint through email that they can not edit but can view and print. This way would prevent others from adding nonsense or adding their names where it does not belong.. If anyone could help me, it would be greatly appreciated.
TIA!!!

I think you save it with the PPS extension instead of PPT.
I don't have Powerpoint on my computer right now, so I forget exactly how to do that. Maybe just try "save as" and see what options you get for file type.

I haven't used PP in a long time but I think Miranda is correct. If you save your PPT as a PPS (powerpoint show) there shouldn't be any editing allowed.
Saving as PPS instead of PPT does make it open as a slideshow, but it can still be edited. It can also be opened and edited with powerpoint. If you don't want it to be editable at all, you'd probably have to embed it in a web page.
Yep, save as PPS or convert to a PDF "presentation". IIRC, from long ago, there was a way though to convert back from PPS->PPT, though I doubt anyone would spend their times doing this just to put their name on it.

It's not hard to do, just open with powerpoint or open office and do a save as.
