cunyalen, why don't you simply convert your PAP2 to SPA-1001 firmware?
ancruv
Could you pls clarify if between steps 6 an 7 the unit could be turned off and on again?

You're going to have to be a bit more descriptive as to where you are in the unlock process.

Are you talking about TheDiggler's 3.1.9 unlock method in post 120?
Is there a particular substep you are stuck at?
What current problem are you experiencing?
What parts have you successfully completed so far?
etc
cunyalen
I have a problem with I use Pay N' Talk 5105B phone with LED display.
I think maybe it's not appropriate to post the question here.
So I made a new one:

Anybody has the same experience?

I finally unlocked again my pap2 but I have problem to use it with a voip service in Italy, but If I use voipbuster everything is ok. Should I change something to use it in italy?

Contact your italian provider and see if they have specific voip settings. It might be on their website.
Umbyboy
Actually I found it and setted up the adapter as they wrote on the website, I tried with few Italian Voip provider and it's not working while using international provider it's working! Any suggestion?

Do you have a link to their webpage with the settings? I'll take a look. (Hopefully it's not in italian or this might be a little difficult)

U should understand something. Could be a solution to convert to a sipura firmware?
cron
Interesting, I wasn't expecting specific directions for a PAP2. I'm surprised you didn't get it working considering the level of detail they provided.

So, it's not giving you any dial tone?
I'm guessing you already double checked all the settings. I'm not seeing anything in particular when i looked at the pdf.

These seem like the basic settings:

Line 1 or 2:
nat mapping enable: yes
sip port: 5060
proxy: sip.vira.it
use outbound proxy: no
register: yes
user id: 6969 *****
password: *******
Use Auth ID: no
codec: G711u
use pref codec only: no

SIP:
stun enable: no

is there a difference between sip.vira.it and voip.vira.it for the proxy settings?

I have follow the instruction to the letter and i am quite familiar with networking but i just cant seem to get my pap2 ver 3.1.9(LSc) to make http requests to the dummy httpconfig.vonage.net there arent even and bad attempts in the log, i have manual download the file from the dummy site to ensure logging is working also.

Buy a new PAP2 v1 somewhere (such as WallyWorld) and return the old one. wink.gif

Hi guys, after I unlocked the adapter I upgrated to firmware 3.1.6 and tried to save the GPP_K value using VackVonage but the message I get is:"unable to resolve host: ls.tftp.vonage.net". I put in VuckVonage the Macaddress of Pap2 the GPP_K value I found in Provisioning and as domain ls.tftp.vonage.net and of course an output folder.
After I tried to push sipura1001 firmware into my pap2 and in the tftp server the bin file was sent but going into the webaddress it's still linksys3.1.6,how comes?

Open up a COMMAND WINDOW to see if you can "ping" that domain name:
CODE
C:\> ping ls.tftp.vonage.net

If it successfully pings, perhaps firewall software running on your PC is blocking internet access to VuckFonage.

For what concerne VuckFonage the ping is ok but I get always the same message even if I disabled the windows firewall.
Well I already setted on the upgrade about the firmware. Could be a problem that my firmware version has been upgrated to 3.1.6! If I try a soft resent and unlock it directly using modified sipura1001 firmware?Could be an idea?

I don't recommend re-locking the adpater and then unlocking using SPA1001 firmware. You may end up with an adapter in SPA1001 mode locked to Vonage and unable to be unlocked thereafter due to SPA firmware requiring the ADMIN PW to perform a FACTORY RESET. Vonage firmware permits the USER PW to perform a FACTORY RESET.

Verify that the firmware file you're attempting to load is:
1) The correct file (i.e. contains the a Linksys PAP2 Header of LiNkSyS FiRmWaRe, not the Sipura SPA Header of SpA1001 FiRmWaRe)
2) Not corrupted (i.e. place a new copy of the file in your TFTP-ROOT)

Diggler
Umbyboy
I'm using this file : PAP2-bin-03-01-03-LS_TO_SPA1001hardware
But my firmware on pap2 is 3.1.6!Is that ok? Anyway I had the same problem with firmware 3.1.3 that's why I upgraded to 3.1.6! I don't know what to do next...I may not have a chance to convert it to sipura and It's also strange what's happening with VuckVonage. Anyway I have the GPP_K value sited in Provisioning is it enought in case of reuncloking?
Umbyboy
I finally pushed the sipura firmware on it and it's working perfectly. My only problem is vuckvonage. I followed all the instruction of the unlocking process I also saved the factory GPP_K and now VuckVonage it's not working, so if it's not necessary to do that I'll skip. Let me know if GPP_K will be enoght or I need the xml file.

Stanaphone question. I would like to do the following for Port 1 of PAP2:

1. Configure Stana IN phone number for free incoming phone calls
2. Configure, so stanaphone account (08XXXX) calls can me made and received on Port 1

Can this be done ? Any user experience in doing this would be great !

Thanks in advance

That's simply how Stanaphone works. When configuring your 08xxxx number in the adapter, incoming calls on both your Stana IN number as well as your Stana STANA # (08xxxx) will ring on that line. Outgoing calls to other 08xxxx numbers will work too, and if you've funded your Stanaphone account, outgoing calls to regular phone numbers will work too.

I have an issue with stanain number. The line gets a dialtone, but when I call it from my cellphone, it immediately gets connected even if there is no real conection. No rings/no connection at the wrt54gp2 line that I am using. If I pickup the line it just gets a dialtone while the cell phone still shows connected. Any thoughts?

Are other normal phone numbers (i.e. a landline) able to successfully call your StanaIN number? If so, I'd contact your cellphone provider (informing them that you're unable to reach a phone number which works fine when calling from a landline) first. If that doesn't resolve the problem, I'd contact Stanaphone second.

If you're not able to successfully call your StanaIN number from external numbers, contact Stanaphone Customer Support.

Thanks TheDiggler, It just started working when I tried last evening. Guess it was too early for me to try it before the number was registered everywhere it needs to be. I got the dialtone and I started calling right away.

Hi

I have a pap2 vonage blocked with fw. 3.1.12 . Never connected to the internet.

I'm following the dingler's method with a laptop. Using the exact method of the dingler's example.

I have everything, the encrypted xml file downloaded from vonage tftp server, TFTP server solar winds, winxp http information server, dhcp & dns server trough winxp ICS. Modified hosts file like the example.
Everything is equal to the dingler's example unblock.

The unblock process stopped me at the firmware downloading part.

The tftp sent the encrypted xml to the pap2. then the pap2 request the other xml but failed, after that the pap2 has to process the firmware, but here is the problem, doesn't process the firmware, doesn't reboot. Stop it there.

excuse me for my english, i'm italian.

thanks!

I don't know if anybody else in this thread succeeded in unlocking such a PAP2; however, in theory it SHOULD work no differently than 3.1.9.

Does the PAP2 make an HTTP request to the IIS HTTP server? You can look in the IIS logs for this (C:\WINDOWS\system32\Logfiles\W3SVC1). Also, have you tried packet sniffing the connection? Since you're using ICS and a crossover cable, it's easy to sniff the connection to 192.168.0.1 (which is the IP Address the PC running ICS). The packet sniff will show whether the PAP2 has made any HTTP requests.

If you've completed the unlock process and have reverted the SPA2K firmware back to PAP2 firmware, you're probably at PAP2 firmware 3.1.3 at the moment. That firmware version is absolutely fine for proceeding w/ the factory reset and "easy" re-unlock process. Any firmware 3.1.6 OR LOWER is fine.

A PAP2-NA (which may stand for "Not Associated" or "North America") is a PAP2 which does not have any provider specific information burned into the device. When FACTORY RESETTING a PAP2-NA, it loads true Linksys factory defaults, and the device becomes unlocked.

If you are in the USA and attempting to use the Voicestick service with the PAP2 and can't dial out, the problem is the dial plan.

Use this: (*xx|<:1aaa>[2-9]xxxxxx|1[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxxS0|<:1>[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxxS0|011xx.)

Where aaa is your area code.

The Voicestick dial plan in the main post does not work for me and I believe it is wrong. I think it was copied from the Voipbuster instructions since Voipbuster is based in the UK and requires users in the USA to dial using a country code prefix "001".

The OP has this plan, note the "001" references: (<:001aaa>[2-9]xxxxxx|<:00>1[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxxS0|<:001>[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxxS0|<011:00>xx.)

If both ports are registered to the same VoIP provider, and if the VoIP provider supports call hunt, then you can probably do it through the VoIP provider's web-site. Another way to possibly accomplish this is to setup your own Asterisk Box (or Trixbox) and configure call hunt in there.

Was it a brand new shrink wrapped adapter when you got it? If so, it was probably new. Otherwise, it was used and likely connected to the internet.
viraj123
QUOTE(TheDiggler @ 4-20-06, 11:22am) *
You've boned yourself in the sense that the original (easy) unlock process won't work anymore as the adapter has now been upgraded to firmware 3.1.9 (assuming you left the adapter powered on for a while after performing the factory reset while connected to the internet). As of firmware 3.1.7, USER MODE firmware upgrades are no longer permitted (which was the security hole permitting the original unlock method).

Now, if you've saved the GPP_K value for this adapter from when you first unlocked it, the easiest and fastest way to re-unlock it is to:

1) Download & decrypt your adapter's INITIAL UPDATE config file from Vonage (use VuckFonage to simplify this process)

2) Inside the decrypted config file will be a USER PASSWORD and an ADMIN PASSWORD

3) Assuming your adapter's web-server is disabled (check first), dial into the adapter's IVR interface, enter the command 7932# (that command toggles the adapter's web-server on/off), follow that command w/ the ADMIN PW (obtained in the previous step), and then hit the # key. If the ADMIN PW isn't purely numeric, here's a conversion chart for entering letters and symbols:

4) Once the web interface is enabled, in a web-browser navigate to the PAP2's IP address. (You can find out the IP address using the IVR command 110#).

5) If prompted to login, you may first need to login as "user" (followed by the USER PASSWORD obtained in step #2). No conversion gets applied to passwords in the web-interface.

6) Once logged in as "user," click the link for "Admin" mode. Enter the username "admin" (followed by the ADMIN PASSWORD obtained in step #2). Again, no conversion gets applied to passwords in the web-interface.

7) Assuming the above is successful, go to the PROVISIONING TAB, turn off automatic provisioning. Go to the SYSTEM tab, remove Vonage's DNS servers. Feel free to DOWNGRADE the firmware to 3.1.6 (or lower) so that USER MODE firmware upgrades can be performed.

8) The adapter is now unlocked.

If you haven't saved the adapter's GPP_K value (shame on you), and if you can continue to factory reset the adapter, you can still unlock it using an isolated LAN running your own DNS server mimicing Vonage's TFTP & HTTP servers. This is much more involved, so I'll only go through posting those steps if you feel you need to go this route.

Your information is very important to me.
I have followed your instructions but up to now i cant enable admin web interface but i was able to login as user using user password. When i enabling web interface i entered 7932# then my admin password 59279291 and it tooks the password then i entered 1# after that only i was able to log to user interface user interface user password is 7756112

Good question. Try factory resetting the adapter, then re-enabling the web interface. What firmware version do you have in your adapteR? (Maybe 3.1.12 added a feature in which the admin web interface can be disabled. noclue.gif)
