Heard a lot about hidden fees, charges, bills, expenses...For a not active stock market newbie (something lik less than 5 trades a month), what would be a good place to open a brokage account?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Unless you're really interested in trading individual companies, I would suggest an account with Vanguard or Fidelity and investing in an S&P 500 index fund or something similar.

I have plenty of funds already.

Just want to try out the taste of trading individual companies. Thanks for the input, dewolfxy.

http://www.bargainshare.com/index.php?showtopic=67225I'm very likelt to open an account with IB soon, but they're not at all geared towards a newbie, so I wouldn't recommend them, but if anyone else has any experience with them I'd like to hear about it

Thanks for all the suggestions. I am all ears.
For you carlos...scottrade would be a best bet IMO. $500. minimum to open and fund the account, $7. trades (even stop and limit orders), and no inactivity fees should you decide not to trade anything...even for months.

Thanks, I think scottrade would be a good place to go too. Only hoping that they would have that $100 sign-up bonus that someothers have.
