Just listed a 17" Dell monitor last night, and already I have received 3 scam emails and one guy who is low-balling really bad.

Is this pretty common?

I listed a computer on their once (Pittsburgh). That's pretty much exactly what I saw.

I've pretty much decided that craigslist is only good in the cities where it is already popular, and a waste of time in the others.

And is haggling pretty common? I listed out what my sale price was, which was for local pickup. I said I would deliver it for $20 if it was close to me.

So this guy low-balls me, to which I reply that my price is what was listed. so he writes back and says he'll go with my price - if I deliver it. Hunh? Everything is listed out clear as day, I just don't get it.

It's more of a "garage sale" mentality, that's all. I would probably try it too.

Just stick to your price if that's what you'd like to do. smile.gif

where are you at? Even at DC i think it's fairly slow.

Also i've never been able to sell ANYTHING that has Dell on there, people know all the deals.

Things blow off of the Seattle one in no time flat.

I normally list on craigslist prior to listing stuff on ebay. I list there for a week and then list on ebay. This strategy seem to work ok for me so far since the initial week ebay would be flooded with the same hot deals. I do make my price on craigslist a little bit more attractive though compare to ebay price + shipping. The nicest part about craigslist is that all of my transactions are in cash (no more worrying about charge back). I list my price + $25 normally since people from craigslist likes to "negotiate" and like to think they negotiated the price down by $25 biggrin.gif .

I do receive scamming email once a while and sometimes on all of my listing items which I just delete the email immediately. I also received occassional low ballers and I ignore them as well. There are also people who asks lots of questions but have no intention of buying and also people who worried that your items are stolen. I would say 99% of people who send me inquiry asked why I sell my items since they're brand new.

Normally when I list on craigslist, I don't list my phone numer nor email address. I only provide phone number if I sense that they are really interested in buying. I don't deliver either since it might be risky. I only meet with buyers in public places (like high traffic parking lots). Seems to work out for me.

I have another craigslist story - there is something wrong with people in Baltimore who use craigslist. Check the bolded time between these two emails.

Did you perhaps use a "borrowed" picture that may have been changed by the original owner?

Well, why don't you write to that person, tell them that you are thoroughly confused, and ask why he switched from asking about it to reporting it as spam.

I'm wondering if craigslist was hacked, or if he has some kind of link hijacking "malware" infecting his computer. Strange to think that so many people would
be reporting a legitimate listing like that.
