How can I reset my WinXp back a few days? I did all the @#$%^* updates, and now my computer is SOOOOOO screwed up!

I know you can go back, but I don't know how!!!

Start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools->System Restore

als i'd sugest doing that from save mode.

Another thing to try is after you press F8 before windows boots and you get the menu,
try selecing Last Known Good Configuration.

Before using System Restore in this case, try uninstalling the updates first. I hope I'm not too late.

Aw, thanks guys. It doesn't matter anyway. The problem is with my monitor. It only shows the bottom half of the screen, and the top half is folded over on itself. Is that bizarre or what?

I know it's odd that I thought my monitor problem was a software problem, but I've been having this problem on and off for a year or so. Everytime it happens I uninstall a bunch of uneccessary programs (kids games, etc), and it seems work again. So, since it happened this time right after a bunch of updates, I thought that was the reason. This time I could not get it to come back up. Since it still does it even in safe mode, it must be totally a monitor problem.

Off to look for a bargain. It's not really fun to have to shrink everything down to the bottom of your screen to even halfway see what you are doing...

Nope, Dell CRT. Only about 3 years old.

Oh, OK. I was getting confused between two threads....the other is discussing a laptop. I had a Toshiba laptop where 1/2 the screen would turn black.

EDIT: Call Dell. It may still be under warranty. You have nothing to lose, but it will cost you 40 minutes on hold to India You may get a replacement out of it though.

i saw this ad in some tech mag...actually, the magazine is called techmag...and they're having this i guess...computer show? I dont know...down in Santa Clara, CA if anyone lives out here...they were advetising cheap stuff, like $49 monitors and stuff...i think i'll go for the .49 cent hot dog and drink...but i cant find the magazine anymore...it was at my job and somebody took it, so i dont have an address or anything, just that its in Santa Clara, on Aug 27, '05 Either I'll be driving all over SC or I'll just not go...or both..
