I like the Panasonic phones but recenly read that they have poor sound quality. Currently I use a Seimens phone and it sucks.
Which brand should I consider when buying a new phone?

Thanks.

I've had a few Uniden phones & I've been pleased with them.
wtf
Sony and Vtech phones have worked very well for me.

Panasonic is the best

I know there is a huge price difference. My question is, is it worth paying the difference? All I want is a good long term phone.
Thank you.

Thank you.

If these are the only 2 choices I would go for Panasonic. I have a better experience with them. Also, the telezapper in the VTech will not work very soon cos new telemarketing software has come out that is immune to that.

these two are not my only options.
i was tempted for the first because it is a new introduction. and the second because it has a rebate.
but i am open to more choices.
my only criterion is that it should be cordless and that it should have an in-built answering machine.

any suggestions, please?

I looked at a report from Consumer Reports for cordless phone suggestions not too long ago and I remember that a Panasonic and a GE phone were rated best overall. Unfortunately, I don't know where that info is now. You have to be a subscriber to look at the reports at consumerreports.com. I'm not so that's why I can't remember where I saw the report. Seems like it was on MSN.com somewhere. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

So I guess, Panasonic is not a bad choice then. I will look around for a couple more days and then maybe get a Panasonic...unless one of you can suggest a nicer option.

Thanks for the feedback.

we have this Vtech and it's OK.

I have had the best luck with VTech for phones, but Panasonic is EXCELLENT as well. You probably will be happy with either choice.

Panasonic speakerphone crap on me.
Coconut
thank you guys for your suggestions. It was very helpful in making me decide.
So, I will go for the Panasonic one I was talking about earlier.

Matshusita (Panasonic) are best, esp. if made in Japan or Korea.

I took the Vtech I bought back to Staples -- lousy reception in my house. I got a Panasonic to replace it and have been pleased.

I have the VTech dejavu posted, and I dont like it very much, as the battery runs out fast and dialing a number for some reason is bothersome. I also have the second phone (the Panasonic) posted by Coconut, and I love it. It tends to have good battery mileage and very good phone clarity.

ATT phones. I really like mine. I don't like the VTech or GE phones.. battery runs out a lot... lots of noise on the vtech... etc.
Coconut
I am so glad I asked you guys.
Many many thanks.

I have favorite brands like the rest of you, but I'm always willing to give other brands a shot. The 3 Sony cordless phones my family has had (all the way from 2 channel to 900MHz) have all worked flawlessly. In fact, they're the only phones that last long enough to get to the point the battery needs to be replaced after some years.

We have a V-Tech 900MHz cordless and it sounds like junk. True it was only $50 (and I managed a $46 rebate) but it's not worth the $4 - keeps skipping channels too often and too much static. Even on their higher end $100+ phones that have more features than the $120 Sony phones they sound worse than the lowest Sony. I know others have had good luck with VTech, but for me I'll stay away. I'm also basing my experience on 2 sets my best friend has bought since I use his phone a lot.

We tried Panasonic once about 8 years ago and the 10 channel phone died in a year. This was a month after a Panasonic TV died after just 4 years. Recently, however, I tried Panasonic again because I got a good deal from Staples. I got the 2.4GHz set up with 3 bases (KX-TGA230B extensions). It took some getting used to at first since the buttons are too small for my ogre like hands, but I like the phone a lot now. It has this cool noise canceling feature where it pretty much eliminates all static when you're not talking. When I first started using it I hated it because I kept having to ask if the person on the other end was there because I heard nothing - now that's a clear line!

I would avoid AT&T phones as I've heard about 1/3 of the reviews are bad - that's too a high percentage for me. Same with Siemens - they make good medical equipment, but horrible phones.

I would suggest sticking to Sony and Panasonic and get whichever one has the better deal.
kevie
Oh... and avoid Siemens at all cost.
