First off I would like to know if its even worth buying an AMD 64 bit processor? Does it speed up the computer compared to a Pentium 4 2.53 512 Processor?

Since the most recent sockets are 939 i would like that so i dont have to worry about upgrades in future.

If anyone can find a deal for an AMD 64 bit chip and mobo please let me know becuase i have been drooling bumdrool.gif for a deal to pop up for the 64 bit processor.

Thank you.

Do you have a Microcenter store nearby? They usually have a deal where if you buy a mobo and proc and signup for a CC, you get a $100 rebate. I've done that to get a free lower-end set before.

Otherwise, use something like pricewatch to find some lower prices online and then reseller ratings to make sure they're legit.

I would watch ebay - I'd bet a lot of people are going to be selling the processors and MOBO's they got from the AMD Tech Tour deal.

I live in New Jersey and dont have a microcenter nearby. I have been looking at pricewatch but it seems like NewEgg sales are cheaper than the prices listed on pricewatch so im hoping to find a deal cheaper than pricewatch.

Lower end are good but if you buy higher end that way it costs more to buy at Micro Center
EVEN after the $100 rebate, plus you pay tax.
