I am trying to burn a DVD but my DVD+RW drive does not detect any blank dvds in my drive. Does my dvd drive only detect certain dvds? I never found out the difference between dvd-r and dvd+r.. could that be why? I currently have 50 blank DVD-R and they dont work in my drive. Can someone suggest to me what to do? Do i go out and buy dvd+r instead? What should i do with the other DVD-Rs?

You have to use DVD+RW in a DVD+RW drive and DVD-RW in a DVD-RW drive to create the DVDs they are readable in both but not writable. They also make drives that support both formats.

Do you know if I can use DVD+R or just DVD+RW?

You should be able to use both DVD+R and DVD+RW media in a DVD+RW drive.

While your DVD+RW drive will be able to read a DVD-R/W already burned on another burner, it may (does!) not detect or be able to write to blank DVD-R/Ws.
