I've been looking into Wireless Wide Area Networking options and was wondering if anyone here has any experience with it. I'm very interested to know about reliability & upload/download speeds.

Both Sprint & Cingular are very vague when it comes to connection speeds and I'd imagine that reliability would be the same as with their cell service. The reason I'm looking at Sprint or Cingular is because the hardware is offered with a Dell laptop I'm looking at. I wouldn't rule out other carriers, but their pricing seems to be the same at $80/mo. for unlimited data transfer.

A few of our clients have it. The love it on interstate. Your are correct that the range is the same as cell. Larger city's have better cell networks so the transfer rate is better. I think on normal cell it is 144 kpbs and some areas are 384 or higher. The better the signal the better the speed. The compaones should know the speeds if you call them and in what areas. 80 a month sounds good. Also check if you city has wimax on for the internet.
