i'm sure it would work for humans too. basically everytime you take a step, it rocks with your hip and that counts a step.

in fact you can just hold it, shake it around, and rack up the miles

i did search "pedometer", but it seemed like every one i tried wasn't in effect anymore...yeah, i guess the dog ped. is my next best choice! hehe thankx
