I'd like to download some tunes (legally ) but hate paying .99 cents....

I haven't used it myself but apparently it is legal and charges something like 1 to 2 cents per megabyte (so I guess like 5c for an average MP3?). Supposedly they have a very large selection and do not use any crippling copy protection.

Maybe someone who uses it can give a better opinion.

(I just copy my friends CD's since they have buddies in the industry who give them free promo's).

It's not legal, they do not have permission to sell that music.
The reason they are not taken down is that Russian's laws are outdated and they can't be applied in this case where the music is offered in digital format as a digital copy rather than a physical CD media bootleg.

yeah, you are right georgi, i googled around and apparently it's legal only because of that technicality in Russian law (something about their laws not being up to date)...

so i guess it's legal but not so ethical? =(.

Um, how's that going to be legal? Unless you need wholesale amounts of new releases, you may as just use Kazaa or something.
