Full Version: network printer installation question

i got a oki 5100 with built in network adapter.At my office i have
a dsl router with a few ports out the back each one has its own IP.
do i need to install the software into only one of the PC's i want to use this with.
and is there anything else i need to do.?

If you only want to use the printer w/ one PC, then you will only need to install the OKI 5100 Printer Driver on that one PC. If you want to use it on multiple PC's, then you will need to install the OKI 5100 printer driver on each PC.

Each PC will also have to be configured to use the appropriate printer port. I have no idea what OKI's implementation is (i.e. using a true NETWORK MAPPED DEVICE or more likely a LOCAL PRINTER accessed as a TCP/IP port). The documentation/manual should provide you w/ all the details you need to access the printer.

i havent checked the printer model features but if you just want to print, i dont think you should need the drivers. If it's an AIO and you want to scan and whatnot you'll need to install the software on the computers
