EDIT: I put this post in here instead of General Discussion since it's more technical stuff and is somewhat computer related since people have been putting these in their PC's.

I just got one of these PSOne screens (they're on clearance at TRU, if you can still find them... I actually bought mine from someone at CAG) and am currently trying to figure out what I want to use it for since you can pretty much use it with any AV device. I tested it out with my GameCube and it worked...

If anyone has any ideas they'd like to add, feel free to post.

This quote is taken from my post in dewolfxy's thread in Deal Discussion:

Miracle Ray - a way of using it as a screen for Game Boy Advance games.

PSOne LCD in a PC

How to use a PS1 screen with any device (might have to be registered to read).

PS2 portable using one of these screens.

Here's a handheld GameCube using this screen... the thread where that image is from is here.  Additional pictures from that thread (Pic 1, Pic 2).

Using it as a projector

The 2nd post in that thread has some good links. smile.gif That might be what I end up doing with mine, if I have any time.

Picture of it in a car headrest... not sure how it's being held in there though:

If any other people have this and are doing anything cool with it, I'd love to see some pictures, if you have any.

EDIT: more stuff...

What a cool thread to start!

I wanted to get one of these to put in a HTPC (Home theatre PC) I'm building...slowly but surely. The stores by me seem to be out of them though. Anyway, if I were to get one I'd modify a case to fit the screen. I'd really love a touchscreen version smile.gif

I forget where I got this link, but there's this 5.6" touch screen kit here:

http://digitalww.com/56TSK.htm

I'm not exactly sure what the kit is for... is it to turn LCD's into touch screens or does it do something else??

That would be neat if you could use something like this to make the PS1 screen into a touch screen (if that's what it does). smile.gif

Oh man, I need to get more info on that Miranda. It looks like that kit does what you think it does. I didn't know kits like this were on the market.
DrZoidberg
be nice to adapt it for computer use and mount it to the side of your server case.

Although I don't have the time to pursue this personally, should any EE-type problems crop up, feel free to ask smile.gif

These links have been added to the OP... I might start making PDF's of all the links and saving all the images just in case the sites disappear, for future reference, if anyone needs them.

This isn't a PS1 screen, but I thought it was, ummm... interesting:

Video of the portable GameCube in action (21.1 MB file)

I'm considering making either a portable Cube or a projector with my PS1 screen. I already have an extra GameCube, I'd just have to figure out how to "portablize" it. tongue.gif The projector really seems like a useful idea, but again I wouldn't know where to begin. blushing.gif

What do I need to use to open this avi file? It tries to open in windows media player, but then I don't see anything; just hear the sounds.
Miranda
It worked for me in WMP, but I'm not sure if you need a specific codec to play it.
