After about 10 years, it's time to replace our trusty Whirlpool dishwasher... it leaks!
I would prefer the same brand, something with a black door (our other appliances are also black). We like Whirlpools because they have the hard food disposer, (so no need to rinse the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher)... Any ideas for a good deal?

TIA!

Go to lowes.com, sign up as a new mover, and get a 10% coupon. Then sign up for one of the DealPass programs, and get $500-$750 worth of Lowes GC's for 80% of face value. Combine the two to get an instant 28% off of any purchase up to $833 (for $750 in GC's) or $556 (for $500 in GC's). Use on a sale or clearance item to really get a good deal.

You can do similar deals for Home Depot, or even Sears (check what coupons are available for Sears). This is how I got my new refrigerator & dishwasher last year.

Thank you Garsh! I was thinking of doing that, I was just wondering if there was a recommendation on a deal.... (specific model #?)

From other discussions, it sounds like different people have had different experiences with all the brands. Probably best to just look for something on clearance or sale that you think you'd be happy with.

We've had good luck with Sears Kenmore/Whirlpool and be sure to use that coupon which expires at the end of this month to save another $30. We also have a Whirlpool washer, dryer, and refrigerator. All have performed well for the four of us. Having to replace the washer recently (lasted 15 years), we were tempted at the Maytag brand until research showed that the Maytag we grew up with isn't the Maytag you get today. Also, when the sister-in-law told us how she'd spent $400 repairing a $600 Maytag washer which was less than three years old and leaking oil/grease all over her family's clothes, we decided otherwise as did she. She has since dumped her Maytag and bought a Whirlpool despite the dealer's offer to give her $300 credit toward a new Maytag.

The Sears website shows a GE Nautilus dishwasher on clearance for $249, was $320. With the coupon, you're at $219, which seems to be a pretty good price. The description for model states that its "Piranha™ hard food disposer grinds leftover food into small particles that are washed away".

Cheapest Kenmore is $198 which isn't enough for the coupon unless you buy some other items. If you were buying some more stuff at Sears anyway, the coupon brings this down to $168. I thnk a basic service call to even look at your existing unit runs about $100.

There's also a $99 rebate toward installation for dishwashers over $399. If you want to do it yourself, replacing an existing dishwasher isn't particularly difficult since the plumbing and electricity are already in place.

There are nicer and more expensive models (over $1,000) but in the end, it really is simply a machine that washes dishes.

use discovercard cashback to buy a$40 rebate for $20 on maytag will save an extra 20 if you get maytag.

Use 5%cashback promo card to buy giftcards will get you another 5%

I was also waiting for HD to have the Gift card back deal if anything on your receipts was from eletric dept but I pulled the trigger before that.

Also remember that using GC on things with rebates gets you an even better deal since you get 20% off the prerebate price + the rebate

HD will take any number of GC per transaction
Sears limits to 10 GC/transaction so you have to buy bigger value GC with you small value GC
The limit is only a computer limit so they dont hassle you if you ask to combine

Although I don't have a Discover card, I thank you for these... I'll certainly look into that Nautilus dishwasher!!!
