Dell has a sale on the Power Edge 700.
I have taken advantage in the past of Garsh's deals on a 400SC, configuring them as desktop computers. Very satisfied.
Need another soon, but the 400SC is no longer available. Its replacement, the 420SC, cannot receive a PCI Express video card without physically hacking the connection the the motherboard. I'm afraid I'd ruin it.
Does anyone know if the PowerEdge 700 would be easier to convert to a desktop computer use?
Thank you.
The 700 does not have AGP either - and I don't know off hand about PCIe in it. I seem to remember that it's only PCI, no pcie, but I could be wrong on that. So no, it's not nice like the 400sc was. Guess Dell got smart on us
PowerEdge 700 detailsNo PCIe or AGP.
Also, this thing is big, and NOISY (lots of fans to cool lots of harddrives inside). You do not want to use this as a desktop replacement.
Thank you, garsh. I'll cross that avenue off my map.
Any thoughts about an 8400? And do you foresee any 8400 sales between Christmas and New Year's?
Sayhey.
