Hi, I just burnt my 1st DVD using Shrink DVD and Nero, it works fine on computer
but on DVD player, on one the menu will work but when I get to select
Widescreen or Full screen, netiher of them work, it takes me back to main menu,
it's a Prosonic DVD player. I tried the same DVD on APEX DVD player and it would say No Disk,
do I have really bad DVD players or did I make mistake when burning?

You didn't happen to get the IO Magic burner from the Staples BF deal, did you?

If so, check who the OEM of the drive is. I heard the BTCs are sheer garbage (go check out cdfreaks.com for info about this drive).

The BenQ's, on the other hand, are pretty decent.

It's probably the quality of the DVD-R/burner, assuming you've successfully played other DVD+/-Rs on your player. Check out if a friend has a NEC/Plextor burner, burn something on that and test it out. If that works, it's your burner. If not, your media, although CMC is usually OK. Also, try burning something at 2X on your burner...as the burner speed goes up, so do the errors....most computer drives have much better error correction than a player's drive....so....

Scandy > I'm taking mine back tonight or tomorrow. I ran Nero create disk and then scanned for errors and got a big score of 50 for quality. Sorry i didn't keep the screen shot and i threw the disk in the trash !!!!! You can install yours and see what you get but i am NOT keeping this piece of crap that i waited in line for. But i did get some other nice stuff for free with rebates today so not a total loss. Now if they have one there when i take this one back that has BenQ f/w i will gladly trade for that Mine is a 16x DL burner. Looks just like the box in the ad so beware. When i looked at the box in the store i noticed the f/w on it and shoulda said no thanx lol

Mine was so bad i threw the Nero CD/DVD test disk in the trash as soon as it popped out on eject. Try the 1 you get and see how it turns out is all i can say. As in a previous post....i have never had any luck with a BTC drive. I got 1 in CA and now in MO and both were crap. The 1 i got in CA wouldn't even burn a CD.

there's more....

BTW, you can use Nero to ID your drive.

Recorder --> Choose Recorder.

My IOMagic was detected as a BenQ, and it has the BenQ sticker on the top.

After reading cdfreaks.com, I do have the BTC crap alright, I am taking it back tomorrow for exchange,
there was a post on cdfreaks.com telling you how to find out which box is BenQ or BTC.
(On BTC box it says 4x DL, on BenQ it's 2.4x)

Thanks for all the help guys!

Yep.

I got a BTC and promptly returned it, and got a BenQ.

Look for 2.4x DL and 40x CD-R write speeds.

Went to 2 staples, both had only one left, and both were BTC sad.gif
Going to last one staples where they are supposed to have 2 left, if there are no benQs, I am returning it.

Found it, found it! banana.gif
The 5th Staples I went to in Bethesda, MD finally had it!
They had 2 left, 1 48x CD-R, 4x DVD+R DL, the other 40x CD-R, 2.4X DVD+R DL!!
The box of that BenQ was smaller too, but other than that it was all same, UPC too.
A guy in Rockville store new Twinbrook station gave me hard time trying to tell me they were exactly the same,
it was he General Manager there, very unfriendly guy too, I won't visit there anymore.
The GM in rockvile near Montgomery College store was nice guy, I might take my next business there from now on.
The guys in my local Gaithersburg Staples were OK, I did not get to see the GM.

Just burnt it, worked the 1st time on the DVD player, thank you so much guys,
without you I would have been stucked with crappy BTC.
