I just got a dell 3000 and a dell 4700 today.

The 3000 has 1 gig of DDR memory. The 4700 has 256mb of DDR2 memory.

Are these compatible with each other? What I would like to do is swap the memories in the two systems and sell off the 3000 and keep the 4700.

If not, I guess I'm just keeping the 3000 smile.gif

Thanks!

Not sure on the compatability issue, but if not I'd keep the 4700 :-)

No, DDR and DDR2 are not compatible with each other. At the moment, DDR2 is quite a bit more expensive than regular DDR.

what dboy said is correct, for reference

Thanks everyone...

Oh well, guess I'll say goodbye to my 4700 sad.gif

I would have like the extra 2 usb ports, but nothing I can't live without I suppose

The 4700 also has a PCI-E slot for future video card upgrades.
