Recently, my laptop has been acting really strangely when logging into my hotmail account, it just freezes the window for about a minute or so. If the window is maximized, I can't minimize it. If the window is not maximized, I can't move it around my desktop. I think it might be some sort of javascript error but I have no clue where to start debugging. It's pretty irritating and doesn't seem to happen with any other websites, even those that activate my javascript.

I'm pretty much at a loss so any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I was reading about this recently. I think it has something to do with MSN Messenger.

Try this:
In IE click Tools > Internet Options
Click on the Security tab then the Custom Level button
Look for "Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins" and click on "prompt".
Restart IE.

Please let me know if this worked.

Ok just logged in and out several times and your suggestion seemed to fix the "freezing" problem, thanks Alan.

The only problem is now I'm prompted several times whether to run ActiveX as I'm going through messages, changing folders etc.

Plus I'm prompted on every other website I visit that uses ActiveX.

Not sure what else to do at this point except disable ActiveX completely until MS fixes the bug (or at least I hope they try to).

That fix is like a table that wobbles. Fix it and it starts to wobble the other way. I suggested to choose prompt because if you choose disable then every website that uses activex will not work properly.

This is a problem that seemed to spring up just recently. I haven't seen a real fix yet, but that doesn't mean there isn't one. At least you're able to get your hotmail, which was the goal. Now to find a real solution.....
