I am looking for an 400SC or a good dell machine with AGP slot. This will be my school work comp. I know that historically, there have been good dels in the last week of DELLs financial quarter. Does anybody know what is the exact date for DELLs quarter closing in October?

The only thing is that as DELL has come up with 420SC, I really want to get 400SC before dell discontinues that line.

Any advice (from the dell experts here as BS) is appreciated.

Their quarter ends on the last day of the month. They used to wait until the last week to put out their blowout deals to meet their numbers but I think they wised up and pushed up the deals to the beginning of the last month. I would keep a close watch for the next several weeks and jump if you see a good deal. I'm not sure how many more 400SC deals we will see since it looks like they are going to replace it with the SC420 which is more of a server and less of a good PC deal like the 400SC.

Just don't try to steal any parts from the Dell warehouse. They have good security there.

On a side note, there is DELL 1600SC for $550 after a $300 instant saving from DELL. It has slot for 2 Xeon processors (but comes with only one processor) and a 36GB SCSI HDD. It may be a good deal for somone looking for a server. But I am looking for a desktop with AGP.

If they actually end up shipping the 400SC's from that deal, ebay is bound to get flooded with them (that deal was on FW). So you may be able to get a decent deal on the 400SC on ebay.
