*This is a rant, no need to read if you don't wanna hear a complaint*

So I'm sure most of you saw the deal on the Nikon 8700 digital camera at OfficeDepot online.

I caught it pretty early, I ordered one camera for myself. I was really tempted to order like 10 and be greedy but I figured OD's been good to me with OD Advantage and some nice deals earlier in the year. So I didn't push it.

I received my confirmation email, order is approved, charges show on my credit card. Everything nice and dandy. Next day I check my status and the order's been shipped, I'm provided UPS tracking number.

This morning I check and see the package is out for delivery....but also that there's been a "return to shipper" request placed...? Now that's strange, I never called and cancelled my order. I call UPS, apparently someone called saying that I no longer wanted the order and to cancel it...

That was one shady ass move OD corporate. You lost all integrity with me when you pulled that stunt. If there was some kind of problem with the order, you should have had the decency to email or call me and explain the situation. I had already changed my schedule to be home early for the delivery. So thanks for wasting my time.

And if there was some kind of price error, the very least you could have done was to contact me early on. I would have been more than understanding. This camera wasn't even for myself, it was intended as a gift for a golden anniversary of a relative. So now I get to scramble to find another gift before the weekend.

I had to spend a large part of my day calling UPS and requesting that they ignore the cancellation and deliver the package. And guess what I see when I finally get a chance to open it?

You sent me...an open box model. Not a brand new one but a used one. Scuffed up box, stickers showing some sort of return. The manuals and software CD aren't even in the box, they've been scattered all about the packaging box. Real classy OD corporate. Real classy.

I used to place most of my orders for everyday supplies like ink, paper, etc. with you guys but I'm gonna go ahead and take that business to the local Staples down the street.

Corporations always complain about 'demon customers', well you're partly to blame for that. Not being upfront with your loyal customers is what drives them away.

I'm not so immature as to say I'll never shop at OD again, but the times I will shop are for the really good deals, for all the other expenses, I'll just take my business to Staples or OM, neither are perfect but everytime there's been some kind of dispute, they've had the integrity to call or write me with an explanation.

It's too funny when I called your support line and even the CSR's couldn't explain what had happened. Nice that you keep your phone rep's out of the loop so that there's utter confusion.

I'm just waiting for you to try and overcharge my card for the difference.

C'mon OD, you started pissing on my lawn, may as well finish by taking a **** on it.

Oh that sucks...I am not too fond of Office Depot myself. They have a habit of cancelling alot of orders on me.

Makes me a little less sad that there's no OD here

OD in-store has been kind to me, but ordering price mistakes online have been a hassle.

If I order and have in-store pickup, the manager has had the courtesy to call me to let me know to not bother picking up. On the other hand, they have also let things go through for me to pick up, while other people are asking about the OOS item I have in layaway.

Online? I've had stuff on the truck be recalled, as well as cancelled without reason. Better off going for in-store pickup if possible, but online -- I'd rather deal with somebody else.

All you need to do is call 800go depot and they will make good. I have done it many times, the last being with the $18 hard drive. I ordered it for in store and got the confirmation email. The next day OD manager called and said they were all gone. One call to the 800 number and they found me an 80GB drive, refunded the MIR amount (+tax) and sent it next day delivery. You have to be nice on the phone, being belligerent won't get you anything. I have found that if you mention that it is not the first screw up you've encountered with the OD system they will also email you a coupon code as well.

Another time I ordered a bunch of the TI calculators that were being clearanced for $1.88. When I got to the store they only had 5 in stock even though I was confirmed for 37. The 800 people sent me 3 boxes totalling 50+ units and also refunded everything over the 5 I was able to pick up in the store. I ended up selling about 20 of them for $20 each and donated the rest to our school and got a donation receipt for the full retail price.

I find most stores vary store by store depending on the manager. Some want your business again, many think all customers are there to "scam" them sad.gif

Whenever I order I take notes, who, and when, and what was said.
CC used to be good....now most of the good managers were run off in the downsizing of CC.

Good luck with OD
