My guess is One Time Deal, since each of that poster's OTD tagged items say 'Special Buy' in the Staples ad.

I think they always say "Special buy" if there is some rebate (instant or mail-in)..
crimson
Staples usually tags items as 'special buy' if it is not something they normally stock, or is an older product that they've brought back temporarily to sell off at a lower price, not nessarily with an instant or mail-in rebate.

and SD (when used in conjunction with FW [fatwallet] not sandisk)?

SD = SlickDeals.net

It's two steps behind FW in the feeding frenzy of hot deals. Plus, there no petty bickering over trival crap.

I came across an unfamiliar term in Freebies so these are really not exclusive to that crowd...

OTD = Out the Door
(as in price you pay when you walk out of retail store) This usually does not include MIR's. (Mail in rebates)

See

http://www.gaarde.org/acronyms/

for the internet acronym website. it has come in handy for me a few times in the past for decoding cryptic posts

IS = Instant Savings (usually during staples deals).

what does 'pinned' mean? I can't find it in the FAQs

what does 'pinned' mean? I can't find it in the FAQs

It's when one of the staff places a thread at the top of one of the forums.

Normal threads get moved to the top of the page when a reply is made. A "pinned" thread is always stuck to the top of a forum.

Usually "pinned" threads are one's that are helpful or have some sort of announcement in them.
