Download V1.2 here

Lookout is a full-text search add-in for MS Outlook 2000 and above. It was purchased by M$ some time this year and is FREE.

I would highly recommend trying it out. It can full text index your entire mailbox and local file systems for documents, etc. Unlike normal outlook search, Lookout completes searches in less than one second.

Thought I'd share in case no one had heard of it before smile.gif

I just tried this out. I'm impressed with the speed. Should be quite helpful to me. I also sent the download url to several in my family.

Thank you.

Question:

I think it searches e-mail really fast and is thus valuable. But I'd also like it to search My Documents. How do I go about accomplishing that?

Thank you.

hmmm... methinks I should ask Billy why with 30K workers, he needs to buy outside companies and can't innovate inhouse, and what that says of his company when he gives a talk to his future drones (Engineering students only tongue.gif) on campus next week, lol.gif

If you click on "Options" in the Lookout toolbar, you should see a tree view with a series of checked or unchecked boxes next to "Inbox", "My Documents", and your other mailboxes. Just check the one next to My Documents and have it reindex (or wait for it to reindex). Makes sense?

Ah, that's the ticket! I had done so, but immediately tried the search and nothing was returned from My Documents. Seems as if I didn't wait for it to reindex.

But yet another problem: I want to use this handy little program for quick searches of text. So I programmed it to drop an icon into my system tray. Makes for a quick way to do the searches rather than opening up Outlook. Anyway, it did deposit an icon into my tray. However, every time I shut down, the logo goes away. Which is stupid.

I fiddled with the tray settings - (hide-hide when inactive-show all the time). This didn't help. Anyone have this problem? Anyone have a solution?

Thanks again.
