Suggestions?

I know its some stupid setting. Outlook works fine with lappy connected via hardwire, but as soon as its wireless, no go. I assume it has something to do with the "LAN not connected" icon on the taskbar.

BTW - Using Outlook first requires VPN connection. VPN works fine for everything BUT Outlook.

Upgraded Win2kPro for all latest fixes, and now this sad.gif

TIA

when you say it doesn't work, what doesn't work? it doesn't connect to the mail server? does the mail server have certain restrictions on what ips can connect to it?

i don't think so. it happened after I updated Windows. yeah, it fails to even attempt to connect to the server, the sorta thing that happens when you just turn on your computer and open a browser before it registers on the network.

what are you using for VPN???
could thier be a firewall setting...etc...in the VPN settings causing this???

Have you tried with your firewall off temporarily to see what happens?

What outbound ports does your firewall allow? Try telnetting to port 25 (SMTP), 110 (POP) or 143 (IMAP) [these may differ if your mail server uses secured versions of these protocols]. Try this both with your wireless and wired connections. If telnet on wireless shows the "could not establish a connection..." where it worked on wired, it's definitely something in your firewall (or mail server access rules).
