LATELY, PARAGOisSUX HAS BEEN REJECTING ALL REBAITSCHECK YOURS REBATES!!!!!
some FW people said this happened to them too.
I still don't know if this is mostly from parago-Florida or parago-Texas.
but sounds like most people corrected it with a phone call to parago.
bizarre behaviour from one of the better rebate houses =(.

I had that with about 3 rebates recently.

I had this same reason "missing original rebate form" for one of the rejections. I called them and told them that "the original rebate form said i could file online and hence I had filed online". They said OK and the rebate went back to "Processing" again. I recieved the rebate after a few weeks.
I had more rebates rejected in the 1st month of this year than I did for the whole of last year.
I strongly believe that some rebate companies are guilty of fraud, as are the companies that employ their services. In fact, the whole theory behind rebates is one of dubious legality. They basically aim to save money by depriving their customers of money that is rightfully owed to them.
My latest problem is having received $10 for a PNY rebate when the rebate was clearly for $20. I will never let them away with this sort of BS, even if you don't really care about the money!
However much I may agree that Parago has been a challenge lately with their antics, and that others may benefit from knowing the current situation with them as a rebate house where it applies to purchases they may make, I've moved the topic to Deal Discussion. My reasoning was to avoid others from viewing the posting of a non hot deal in IRD as acceptable.
I'll add my 2¢ now. In the past month they claim they have not received 2 of my rebates. No record. I called, faxed the copies in to them, called them back to check the status, and still....no record! I recalled them and refaxed the information again -mad- and I'll check Friday to see what the status is.
They are getting VERY sloppy. New management there possibly?
IMO it isn't sloppiness, it's deliberate fraud. My guess is that they have not made the profits they intended and are now trying to make up lost ground. I mean, if every person who was entitled to a rebate, applied for and received that rebate, these guys would be out of business.

Crazy talk! -huh-
You all know that we wouldn’t get such great deals if the rebate process did not take advantage of the unorganized, the inept, and the lazy. Who do you think is paying for this stuff?
Random bogus rejection is one of the means by which the vendors and fulfillment houses provide funds to give us cheap or even free stuff. I got the “missing original rebate form” rejection. The entire submission consisted of the form and a cash receipt. The
CSR could not explain how they knew that it was *me* that sent the receipt without a form! An email with a pdf… validated within a half-hour.
If that's too much effort, pay msrp!

I think the Minolta color laser printer deals are causing them to do this.
They probably lost a lot of money on those. Those were $200 rebates, and people were getting anywhere from 2 to 4 rebates per printer!!! You can bet that Minolta wasn't going to pay for all of those. And it took Parago a while before they realized they were in trouble.

BUMP
Agreed about the Minolta deals possibly having something to do with this. I mean, you already have the serial numbers, how hard is it to correlate the rebates if you want to reject multiple submissions? Their mgmt can only blame themselves and their lax IT for this. The printer rebates just exposed cr*p that was already there I'd guess, so Minolta probably gave them an expensive lesson about how not to run a rebate house.
And the rebate forms said strict auditing will occur when validating rebate requests. If they'd done that from the beginning...
Actually, while some of the Minolta rebates said cannot be combined with any other special promotion, not all of them did. Thus, with two original UPCs on the box, they really did open themselves up to multiple rebates per printer.

I received rejection postcards regarding Teon DVD+R's rebates
reason: didn't submit rebate form.
These are purchased at instore, submitted online rebate form and thrashed the instore rebate form.
Now they want me to go to store and reprint the rebate form at staples register and submit again.
they are rejecting all rebaits. the rebate house still get paid if the rebaits are rejected or not. what is new in US?

I didn't do the Minolta deals. I have sent in about 12-15 Parago rebates in the last 3-4 weeks and they have all gone through, in fact they have not only been validated quicker than normal but I have already received about half of the payments.

did u submit them online, then mail them in?
i pretty much always submit online. i figure it's the best thing to do because it automatically enters you into their system and assigns you an individual tracking number.

my sister just got a reject for "invalid postmark" on an xD card for her Olympus camera.
I called and told them that the deadline is TOMORROW (hello!?) to submit the rebate...how can the postmark be invalid, especially since they HAVE her rebate info in hand to be able to claim that lame excuse.
anyway, she validated the rebate.
what a hassle.

not that i disagree with you, but you do know that you include a return address on every rebate you send. It's easy for them to know exactly who sent it.

But how would they know to match it up with the particular online rebate submission number? No, they are seeing the rebate form, and are simply rejecting rebates for bogus reasons. I'm not sure why they like to choose "no original rebate form" as a reason.

Two of my $40 MIRs have been rejected for the reason "didn't receive", one of which I sent 5 times to them.
Two of my $10 MIRs have been rejected for the reason "missing original rebate form", both are on-line forms and strange enough, they had my UPC codes which I stamped on the forms.

You are right. I have several rebate been rejected by absurd reasons. Called in and the CSR insisted that I have to e-mail or fax in the suppliment document. They've changed their policy. Now it takes me much more time to handle this rebate. I guess this is what they want. But I will never give up ~~

Awesome, I can join the club now. Don't forget to call Staples
corporate or whomever, to tell them how you feel. Especially if you are getting the runaround.
Edit: Here is the Staples rebate escalation number to call: 866 737 4933
I was informed by several sources within Staples that for
in store purchases you need to send the actual rebate form that printed at the register
even if you entered the rebate tracking information online. I was, again, told by several sources, that this change recently came from upper management for in-store purchases ONLY.
Hope this helps. I'm still planning on complaining to my local store manager.
Thanks for the escalation number.
What a wierd change in policy.
Guess for any future Staples B&M purchases, I'm going to ask for multiple printouts of the rebate receipts.

It probably won't do much help, Tim. As I said in your Norton AV/SW thread, they just reject you with whatever reason, like, "I am sorry, but this promotion is not yet open".

They lie, you know.

Agreed, however if you are following "the rules" (whatever they are), you can then complain back at Staples. The escalation number is Staples, not Parago. I asked a couple times.
What is going on. I called in after all my rebates were invalidated a second time. This time they didn't validate all of them, they said there looks like there is fraudulent activity and they are investigating. What is going on?
I sent several rebates to parago (4 weeks ago, 3 weeks ago and 2 weeks ago) , and they claim they have not received any of them yet.. Does anyone else have same situation ?
