The State of California passed legislation establishing a funding system for the collection and recycling of certain electronic products that meet the criteria of a "Covered Electronic Device" (CED). This law, referred to as SB20, requires manufacturers such as Dell Inc. to collect a fee for these electronic devices sold into the State of California. Under current SB20 law and regulations, the following Dell branded & third party products will be subject to a State Environmental Fee: All notebook computers
All CRT monitors
All LCD monitors
TV's with a screen size greater than 4 inches that contain Cathode Ray Tubes

The Fees associated with SB 20 are as follows: $6 per device with a screen size greater than 4" but less than 15"
$8 per device with a screen size between 15"- 35"
$10 per device with a screen size greater than 35"

In compliance with California law SB20, Dell Inc. plans to add a State Environmental Fee to your invoice for all orders placed on and after July 1, 2004, based upon products selected and a ship to location of California. This fee will not be applied to shipments to Federal Government entities.

Resellers are responsible for understanding SB20 and complying with SB20 to the extent the law might be applicable to them. Dell will not collect and remit this fee on a resellers behalf if they have a California resale exemption certificate on file with Dell.

While the law requires this fee to be imposed beginning July 1, 2004, legislative developments are in progress to move the effective date out to November 1, 2004. Please monitor the following websites for the latest updates to SB20 and Dell's implementation plans to comply with this California law.

Governor Arnold is doing what needs to be done. Things like this will help get the budget balanced and the state back on the right track. A few dollars is nothing compared to what the monitors cost.

Absolutely. Instead of being careful with money, California will just keep charging taxpayers more and more until the budget is balanced. Bring on the $800 toilets and $350 hammers! banana.gif banana.gif

Seems like California has decided to adopt a socialist philosophy and has decided to tax people to death.

Haha, animal prostestors are mad cus Arnold wants to cut the time stray animals can spend in a shelter before before being put down, as part of his plan to cut state budget. Personally I think, killing a couple of stray dogs to keep my college tutition down is a no brainer. I would do the slaughtering myself if I had to.

He's already overturned that. banana.gif

I for one have no interest in keeping YOUR college tuition down. You wanna go to college, pay for it yourself! As for doing the slaughtering yourself, I feel the same way when it comes to some people -mad-

Hell, I don't even like that fact that my property taxes go towards the schools. I don't have any kids, why should I have to pay for someone elses kids to go to school -mad-

He would balance the budget real well with no additional taxes if he'd fire half the incompetent people sitting in redundant government jobs getting a salary out of us taxpayers.

Did you know that we have a "Waste Management Board" which meets once a month and whose annual compensation is $117,818??
Tell me where that money is coming from?

In April 2004 Rosario Marin, who ran for Governor in the primaries was sworn in... (after she was disqualified in the primaries, she gave her support to Arnold). She was appointed to the board job by Arnold. How is this not politicking as usual?
