I need some advice on the following situation. This is for one of my Ebay auctions.

The buyer paid for the item through PayPal. The Payment has not cleared yet. After the payment gets cleared, I will ship the item.

The problem is that the buyer does not have a confirmed address. So I have to send it to an unconfirmed address.

What is the best method of protection for me (seller)? I am thinking of
1. UPS Ground Shipping with insurance (item worth $170)
2. I don't want the item to be delivered to anyone else other than the buyer. Does anyone know about the following?

Delivery Confirmation (DC): Provides automatic confirmation of delivery for any package you designate

Delivery Confirmation Signature Required (DCSR): Provides automatic confirmation with a printed copy of the recipient's digital signature

Delivery Confirmation Adult Signature Required (DCASR): Provides automatic confirmation with a printed copy of the adult recipient's digital signature. The adult must be at least 21 years of age.

3. Also what does Proof of Delivery (P.O.D.) cover?

I don't mind speding $5-10 bucks extra for shipping. I just want a protection (as the rating of the buyer is very bad).

Your advise is appreciated.

What do the ratings say? Have you contacted the buyer through email to express your concern about shipping to an unconfirmed address?

Does the buyer's name match the name to the address? If not, I'd be a bit suspicious and definitely send an email out. If the buyer is legit, he/she will probably thank you for the courtesy of contacting them before sending out the package. I've done this in the past.

A little communication can save you a lot of headaches in the end.

Rating: One +Ve and One -ve in June 2002. After that no history

I had contacted the buyer. So far I had sent 2 emails and she had sent 2 replies back. First she told me that she had sent the full payment, but she sent me only the shipping fee. Then after my mail she sent me the full amount. Her address is unconfirmed. But Once I get money after 3 days then I should be fine.

She sounded legit and told me that she had not used PayPal and does not know much about it. But how can I be sure about this?

The paypal address and ebay address are the same. I have't expressed my concerns about shipping to unconfirmed address yet? What should I do?

a couple days ago, I just set up a personal paypal account on top of my business account, and it currently lists my address as unconfirmed, i have to wait for thier penny deposits to confirm my account, which takes about 3-5 business days for mey bank to processa and show their deposits.

Any advise on a safe shipping method which will offer protection to the seller?

Fedex Ground gives you signature proof of delivery if you need it (you get the signature and can "order" a copy if you need it for $$) - I don't ship with eBay using anything else anymore. FedEx is also cheaper - 15% or so - than UPS.

Thanks for the information. I will ship it with FedEx with signature proof of delivery and also insurance for the final price.

Even after doing all these things, If the buyer says he did not receive it, then who offers protection? Will FedEx be the one to guarentee it? Just want to be prepared for the worst case scenario. This is kind of like the second item I am selling on eBay.
