Anyone have a carpet shampooer that you just *love*???

I am clueless as to what is a good brand that does a great job...we have a Kirby, but it's getting old and isn't as good as it used to be.

Any ideas and suggestions welcomed!

I've seen refurb Bissell Proheat Powersteamers for around $100 at local discounters. Works good enough for me, upright design with built-in water heater. Deluxe models have a powered brush on a hose attachment.

You probably want a carpet steamer. The shampooers that I have used (consumer and industrial) never pick up all the soap they put in the carpet and then dirt sticks to the shampoo so high traffic areas can get really dirty really quickly after a shampoo.

Thanks! That is very true about the soap. I got a Hoover Steamvac. Not sure exactly what it is...a shampooer/steamer but for this price it will do what I need it for.

I have a Hoover Steamvac too. It's more like a Hoover "spray water all over the place and suck it up" vac. It works though

i ordered the model below on 5/24 from Amazon. i paid $80 for it after discounts/promotions. i'm not sure if they were still in effect when you were looking for yours, but this is BY FAR the best cleaner i've used. i've had two prior cleaners of my own (both hoover), plus i once borrowed one (some brand i don't recall). none of them compare to this one.

Amazon Regular Price - $149.99 depending on the model of the hoover steamvac you bought, you may have gotten a MUCH better deal than i did on this purchase. the regular prices on the hoovers range from $50 to about $350. i think the ones i've used in the past have been middle of the line hoovers...and i love this dirt devil compared to them.

I have a Hoover SteamVac Widepath and am very happy with it.

I was blown away by how much water it sucks back out of the carpet. Alot of shampooer's leave the carpet soaked but the Hoovers leave them barely damp.

oh man! My Dad's hallway was DRY by the time I finished the LR! (I had started in the hallway).
