Aside from LukFilm's unfortunate happening, I had the unpleasant time of trying to validate some rebates that I sent in. On one, they misentered the data so that it was an "invalid UPC." On the other, their systems were messed up so that they assume February has 31 days -rolleyes- so my rebate was invalid because it was "late."
I'm wondering if this is just incompetence or something seedier going on.... Oh yeah, and another set of rebates aren't showing up for me, also.... Might have to call THAT one in also. Of course, all of these DID go to the El Paso address instead of the Miami one....
Just had to vent -mad-.
Feel free to use this thread, LukFilm.

I'm scared... have $1230 pending and another $600 in the mail. crap, if those don't get validated, I won't get a new lappy

The majority (perhaps ALL) of my recent rebate woes with Parago involved the El Paso rebate processing center. I find them far more incompetent than Miami ever was and far more difficult to offer the infamous "one time courtesy" that they've been known for.
I was especially annoyed at how they mishandled the OMAX TaxCut BUNDLE $74.85 rebate offer (requiring 4 different products be purchased). I don't know of a single person who posted that their $74.85 rebate was processed correctly the 1st time (i.e. w/o requiring ANY follow-up). That's just plain wrong.
So yes, be very leary of rebates going to El Paso, and be especially prepared to fight hard for the rejected ones. I've so far managed to get 100% of my rejected El Paso rebates approved, but in at least one case it wasn't easy.
In fairness, at this point I've had a respectable number of rebates process without incident @ El Paso, TX, but the percentage of rejected rebates is MUCH higher there than elsewhere.

P.S. In reference to LukFilm's very unfortunate situation, I don't think that's an issue of El Paso vs. Miami. He's simply been "flagged" (or blacklisted as he appropriately put it) at this point, and all of his Parago rebates are affected. -mad- (Luk, considering the amt of $$$ you likely have outstanding in rebates, you may want to consider the services of an attorney).
I will just say "ditto". Parago is going downhill fast.

Well considering how rebate houses advertise themselves to companies based on their rejection rate, I suppose it's only a matter of time until Parago turns to the dark side. That or until companies start to realize that their reputations are worth more than cheating their customers out of a few bucks, but that doesn't seem too likely.
