If you are looking to get one CHEAP, get an SP-90 mp3 player. It doesn't work very well as an SP-90, but you can upgrade it to the SP-100 with a hacked firmware. The SP-100 is a great MP3 player. After the firmware hack, your SP-90 will be an SP-100 except for the backlight on the lcd, and a switch on the bottom that can reduce the size of the memory buffer. I have one, and use it all the time. They can be found for around $40 on ebay and other places if you look. I stress that you should NOT buy one unless you plan to upgrade the firmware and make it an SP-100. Do a Google search for this procedure and see if it is right for you before you buy.

Good points. The poster didn't exactly say what sort of MP3 player he/she wanted.. I just assumed an MP3 CD player. smile.gif

How much memory would you like to have? Would you like the ability to upgrade and increase your available memory?

What is your price range? I've seen solid state mp3 players range from $20 to $200+

a rio 500 is pretty much the top of the line for the cost mp3 player. It is a great player and takes smartmedia which is a standard format for upgrading the memory on it.

It's a bit older, you might have to look on ebay for one. Should be able to pick one up for $50-60

ubid.com used to have the Rio 800's for $65+$2.95 S&H (not sure if they still have them). The only issue was that some came with an AC Adapter and some didn't.

On ebay, the 800's go for $80 + S&H. It's a 128MB solid state MP3 player that I'm very fond of.
