I downloaded and installed this net transport a month ago while trying to download files from the internet. All was fine until 3 days ago. I was trying to download a 720MB file and the software stopped working at 99%.

Whenever I tried to resume the downloading process or restart the program, it said out of memory and kill my computer.

I tried to reinstall the program but the same problem is still there.

I deleted the file that didn't finish downloading.

It didn't work.

Eventually I tried to uninstall this program forever. However, I found it left a folder in my HD. There is a NThelp.dll file that I cannot delete (the message was: access denied, make sure the disc is not full and the program is not in use).

This is now really driving me crazy! Help please.

Ummm, just a question, how close are you to running out of hard disk space?

My C drive has 8.4GB and I used about 5.8GB. So 2.6GB left. The problem is once I start this software, my HD light starts to flash and all memory is used up in seconds. I have 512MB memory and about 310MB available.

when you uninstall programs they often leave behind a folder and some type of file. they do this in case you ever reinstall it will pick up yoru old settings. however, if you uninstalled it and it won't let you delete that file, that means it's still running. i haven't done any investigating as to what this prog is, but i wouldn't be happy if i uninstalled a program and it's still running. i'd restart and then see if i can delete it. if not, then there are a couple things you can do.

hit ctrl alt delete and goto task manager, see if you can see where the program is running, end task it, then once it's ended delete the file.

run adaware or some similar program and scan your computer

run startupcop pro and see what is running at startup on your computer

Thanks for the reply. I have checked again to confirm that I have deleted this software. I went to control panel and use add/remove software function to delete it, then ran regedit and deleted it from the registry.
I ran the alt+ctrl+del function and was not able to find this software running.
The folders containing this NTIEhelper.dll is marked as read-only. I unchecked that mark. But I still cannot delete this file. The error message is always access denied, make sure the disc is not full, or write protected or being used by another program. Another program? I cannot understand why other programs want to use this software's help files.

Windows really freaks me out.

Hahaha, problem solved. I cut and paste the file into another folder, but still, I could not delete it. SO I rename the file into NTIEhelperdude.dll. Dude, it worked! I deleted it without any problem after restarting. smile.gif
