I've been waiting for this to come out to wipe my old Dell 700m, specifically because of the inclusion of Upstart (which allows many init.d scripts to start after you enter the desktop environment). My wife uses the 700m for web stuff, and running Windows, it was reaaaally slow. Boots to the GNOME desktop in 30 seconds or less, and is really fast (much faster than I was even expecting).
Definitely two thumbs up for repurposing old laptops.
