Starbucks VIA™ is an instant coffee. Supposedly it tastes as good as fresh brewed. I think I will require multiple trials before I make up my mind.

Up...I have some of the VIA from a sample offer, but haven't tried it...we only use instant when there's a power outage...

Waiting for my beverage to cool before consuming. Was not allowed to leave the counter. They actually do observe your reaction.

Stir and sniff. Got it right by smell alone. Barista surprised. I could taste the difference as well.

The natural oils, which yield the signature "burnt" odor and aftertaste, were much less present in the VIA. Fresh brewed burns the tongue, even after blowing. Although the instant lacks character, I did find it to be smoother drinking.

I'm going to tour more area Starbux and parade the nose

When I tried it yesterday, the instant tasted watered down. It was not good. I did like getting the coupon for a free cup of brewed coffee.

We stopped by another *$ today - this time they gave us a free packet of the coffee in addition to the coupon
