My Dell XPS Desktop computer is not recognizing usb mouse. Mouse works on my laptops though. Also USB port on my deskop works for jumpdrive and printer etc.

Any Suggestions?

When I find that a USB device is not working on a machine and I know the device works, my first step is usually to uninstall the USB port from device manager and let Windows autodetect it again.

sounds silly, but did you try a different usb port? check device manager to see drivers are fully installed with no issues?

I had it happen to me once out of nowhere on a reboot. Found out the BIOS set itself to only allow PS/2 mouse. Must have been a cosmic ray.

Looks like that was the case. I brought a PS/2 mouse and it worked perfectly. Thanks
