Hi all,

I have a VOIP line that I would like to set up somewhere to forward to my google voice line... I'm paying like $20/mo for it & don't really need that service anymore, but I don't want to lose the phone number.

Anyone have a creative way to port that number to somewhere and have it auto-forward? Porting it to google voice would be ideal, but that service isn't available quite yet from what I understand...

Thx!

VoipO has a "Forward Local Number" service for $3.00/mo (when pre-paid up-front for a year, otherwise $4.95/mo), which includes 300 mins/month of forwarding, 2.5¢/min thereafter. They also offer FREE number porting. wink.gif

Thx! They look really full featured and pretty cheap too... now I'm thinking about getting their full service for $8.25/mo for a year before I decide to shut down the landline entirely.

There may be a $2 - $3/mo surcharge on the full service plan for E911 and Regulatory Recovery fees, so something to be mindful of. (I haven't paid enough attention to them lately to see if that fee is being charged separately or if it's embedded in their regualr price).

not sure about the number forwarding for ooma, but it's another option if it's just a matter of keeping the number:

ooma Core VoIP Phone System $189.99 plus $30 Store Credit at Amazon.com

More expensive and a $40 number porting fee.

Yeah, there is an additional cost - looks like 8.25*12 plus 36 in taxes and fees, so $135 for the year or $11.25 per month. It's a little less than half of what I'm paying for teleblend so I still might jump. Going to keep looking around a bit though.
