sad.gif I recievd an email stating that

"We regret to inform you that we are unable to complete your order....
The following item(s) are unavailable at this time and
have been cancelled from your order:

Item: 63004295
Description: Washington Redskins, Multi-Colored, Large
Quantity: 5
Price: $ .01"

I say that this was a "SCAM" by "Wilsonsleather" for various reasons (i.e. to collect information on people such as their credit card number, their email address, their home address).

And, if it was not a "SCAM" and was an error on their "web site", then they should not have a "web site" as they can not control their "web site", and "MUST" must stop their business through internet.

And, if they do continue business on internet, then they are doing "SCAM" business.

I assume you are kidding barrymis. It was likely a pricing mistake. A lot of websites have pricing mistakes from time to time. Whether they honor the mistake or not has been an issue for some, but I think it is very likely that even if they wanted to honor this particular mistake, that they legitimately ran out of stock. I'm sure they received thousands of orders more than normal for this item over the weekend.

This sounds a lot like saying "anyone who ever makes a mistake while driving should not be allowed to drive since they cannot control their driving" or "anyone who has ever sent an email message to the wrong person or with the wrong subject line by mistake should not be allowed to use email since they clearly can't control their use of email."

We all had that reaction the first few times we tried to get in on a pricing mistake. After a while you realize that it's nothing more than a mistake and not worth getting too upset over. It's like playing the lottery, only with less risk and better odds. smile.gif

Barrymis, Wilson's Leather is a reputable company who existed long before the Internet. Might there have been a purposeful slip? I suppose it's possible. But you can hardly conclude they are a "scam" when they have a long history of normal business activity.

Now there certainly are scammers on the Internet and you should always do a little research before you start giving out personal info. But I wouldn't worry about these guys.

Anyhow, people who do research, generally won't get scammed....so those who do their homework....already know the answer to this.

Those who are still learning due diligence....please let's not scare them. This company is fine. But again....you need to be able to figure this stuff out for yourself. It's not that hard to do.

Please make sure to check Nasdaq. This company caused many many people to loss their money, savings and retirements. This company is the same as "Wilsons The Leather Experts, Inc.", which operates under vaious names.

http://finance.yahoo.com/q/pr?s=PRVU.PK
(Originaly it was WLSN, then it was changed to PRVU.PK) and its last trade was 0.0021.

Now, lets be fair, if this company made a price "mistake" on their site and can not fulfill the sale, then how about that person who purchased 10,000 shares of this company on August 2000 at about $15 each (total of $150,000) and is worthed almost $0 today. This stockholder made a "mistake" and purchased this company's stock. Could Wilsons Leather correct the mistake and return his money?

Wilsons Leather web-site states that "Our e-commerce site offers an extension of our store experience and is intended to increase brand awareness, strengthen the relationship with our customers, ......."

http://www.wilsonsleather.com/corp/index.jsp?page=aboutus

This company can not even manage and maintain a simple web-site.

Is this what you call "a reputable company"!

You wrote "Might there have been a purposeful slip."

I say it was a purposful intend.

If, this was a simple mistake, then how about the quality of their products. How many mistakes they make while performing quality control of their products. Their stock history is a result and indication of the poor quality of their products (unless they prove that all their products they use Italian Leathers, and all their products are made in Italy)!

maybe not...

On September 12, 2008, PreVu Inc. filed a voluntary petition for liquidation under Chapter 7 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. On September 11, 2008, an involuntary petition for liquidation under Chapter 7 was filed against PreVu Inc.

As long as they issue a prompt refund (if anyone was actually charged), it's pretty much a non issue.

Mistakes happen. Pretty much every retailer has made a mistake like this. Usually you get a polite cancellation email which Wilson's Leather already sent to people who ordered.

Wilson leather is a reputable merchant in the New England area, at least that's what I know. I even bought a motorcycle jacket from them, then found out I don't have the hot wheels yet. wink.gif Maybe some day Nack would lend his to me.
