I found some old Canon AE-1s and Minoltas of my Dad's....plus some film.
the Kodak Gold expired in 2000. should I dare try it or toss and buy new?
I can't wait to try the AE-1 !!!
http://www.frugalphotographer.com/info-usi...xpired_film.htmSeeing how you're in Florida I'd imagine the film may have been stored in a warm & humid environment. You may not be happy with the results, but I'd give it a try anyway.

I think you should start using a digital camera
I have an old Canon AE-1 that I have to try and sell. Not used in forever!
couldn't hurt to try one.
It's ashame they haven't done the free film developing at walgreens in a while. Would be a lot easier to experiment. heh

on the bright side, if they all come out black, CVS doesn't make you buy..

Interesting! It's been inside A/C all this time, so I am going to try it!

Film can have a remarkable lifespan if it has been kept in a cool, dry place. I have developed film rolls I have found stuffed away in a drawer some years and have been surprised to find nice pictures of nieces and nephews when they were very young (they are all in their teens or older now).
You can go to York Labs or Clark Labs online and ask for mailers to be sent to you. They are very cheap on development. It's well worth a shot, just be sure that if it's a shot you REALLY want, that you have another camera there to take a backup. The worst that happens is that the old film doesn't work and you get the pic from the other camera.
Don't knock film, ya'll. There is something very artful about it. I use film and digital both.
I still have some pretty old film too. Says "develop before 1997" - wow! Too bad I don't have a camera that uses 110 anymore or else I'd try it.
Free Film Developing at Walgreens, Today Onlygo take some quick snaps and go test out how good the film is.

Thanks cron, my daughter had a one-time use camera in school with her last year and we've been procrastinating about developing it. It's nice they included one-time use cameras in this deal.

I have one of those sitting around too, no clue if it works or not!
I haven't shot film in I don't know how many years.
I also have a Canon AE-1 Program around. I won't part with it mostly for sentimental reasons, but I haven't used it in a while (I have mostly gone digital lately). Still, I do enjoy film once in a while, and plan to use it again periodically. There are a few things you can do with film, that it is very difficult to capture with digital.
