My friends computer keeps freezing up most of the time when it is idol. I have run super ant spyware and the one that comes from his ISP (CA) he his optonline

I was able to find a few virus and took care of them.
I also restored the computer back to a week before all of this happened.

And know it is freezing up. I was reading about registry cleaners,are they safe?

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

The system freezing while idle can be due to many reasons. The first step I would take is to look at the Event Viewer and see if any errors appear. That could give an indication of where the issue is.
To access event viewer click Start > Run then type eventvwr.msc and click OK

If any errors appear under Applications or System post what they are.

I would also start looking at hardware issues and run diagnostic tests on them.

First step I'd suggest is do a Ctrl-Alt-Del and look what processes are running and which process is using the most CPU.

all great idea's I did not have a chance to go to my friends house this week end,Tuesday I will be heading over there and will print out all your suggestions and go from there. I will post an update as soon as I have one.
