my wife is bugging me to get Tivo..
any one own this or know which one is best to get etc...
thanks

I have one of the old series 1-30 hour TIVOs. When I 1st got it the wife was complaining that we don't need any more junk and the TV works fine like it is. After a few weeks you could not pry the TIVO remote from her hands. She is constantly complaining when watching TV at her parents house because they don't have TIVO. hypocrite.gif

You can get one from Dell :

and use one of the coupons.

oh cool thanks now to get codes to lower that..

why does it it need a usb and a network?
HarleyD
Well, mine uses the old modem and phone line. It "calls home" every day to download the current TV schedules. You will have to buy one of the subscription plans: monthly $12.95 or product lifetime $299.

do i need to get a wirless router or will just that adpater dell has listed work?
HarleyD
The TIVO What you need page.
I think you will only need the LAN if you want the Home Media Option.

You can also get a lot of info here: http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/

Tonka,

Do you have cable or do you have DirecTV? DirecTV Tivos don't offer the Home Media Option but support dual-inputs. This way you can record one show and watch live TV on a different channel or record 2 shows at once and watch one of the pre-recorded shows.

You'll also want to mod the Tivo to upgrade the capacity by adding/upgrading the HD. LINK to FAQ

We have 3 DirecTV tivos in the house and wouldn't want to live without it.
