Only orders placed before September 1, 2008 are eligible for a price difference refund under the Post-Order Price Guarantee policy. As of September 1, 2008 we are no longer offering discounts if prices change on our website after you make a purchase."
supposedly this went out to some customers recently

Another discussion on Amazon.com forums

just a heads up

And apparently they won't accept payment via check or money orders after September 11!

Kind of funny, since they were running that promotion for a while where you had a chance to win money when paying by check.

I was on the phone with some Amazon CSR this morning, and the dude told me Amazon no longer price match begining this month. This is truely some shocking news! I am not sure if this news has been reported here. But be warned. It's no longer that trouble-free to order from Amazon anymore.

After how badly this was abused, I'm not surprised. Too bad, though, especially for the sites that tracked Amazon price drops.

I only priced match about twice last year, and it was of very little difference ($5~20). I don't see how I was :abusing: it. But it's always pretty sad to see something this good to die.
BlueTDimly
Oh, I wasn't saying you were abusing it. If you poke around the internet, though, there are plenty who got price adjustments all the time, and sites like priceprotectr that were built around the fact that Amazon was so generous. Too bad sad.gif

I just signed up for the petition. I do hope they can bring it back later somehow, yet that possibility is very slim.

The problem is that there is no way of knowing what is Amazon's best price. Prices fluctuate up and down all the time there.

Yup. In the past I've bought 10 of something, then gotten $50 back when the price dropped $5. Shame.

my biggest on 1 item occured just a few months ago. I finally broke down and bought a riding mower. I purhcased it when they were running a special for $696.04. it went down twice after that and I got adjustments. $69.60 and $62.64 each time

It is priced outragiously now.... http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000KDM46U

Ouch!!!
Now, if someone will just create some kind of script where it will "predict" what the lowest price on an item would be... that would be neat!

My TV (purchased from Amazon) was $1,733 shipped. Afterwards it shot up $100 and stayed there for 6 weeks. Last couple of weeks it came down below $1,700. $1,675 was the lowest I've seen - now $1,690. Past the time to pricematch even if they still allowed it.

this is sad news. I just found out about it after coming back from vacation. =(
